Finding healthy snacks for your children - that they will actually eat - can be a nightmare! I’m not immune to the pressures that mums face every day, especially when it comes to feeding our children. There is always someone ready to pass judgment on what your child is eating!
Like all parents, I want to ensure my daughter is eating the best food every day. But, in the very early days, it meant that I was spending hours in the kitchen, and I’ll be honest I’m no Masterchef! So not only was it time consuming but I really had to get creative and think about flavours and foods – not that easy if I’m honest. Nevertheless I did it, I got down and dirty in the kitchen creating recipes and purees that would inevitably been thrown on the ground or against the wall!
I used to get so upset and frustrated. But I soon realised, that like all babies and toddlers, my daughter is simply trying to navigate her world and what she eats or doesn’t eat is one of the few things that she has control over at such a young age. So rather than get into a power struggle and start World War III, I think it’s important for her to choose (within reason) what she eats.
Having partnered with Yoplait Petit Miam, I was recently introduced to the newly reformulated kids yoghurt pouches from Yoplait. I myself love Yoplait yoghurt so when I discovered the new handy pouches for kids I wanted to learn more about what was in them. I was delighted to discover that they are made with real fruit and no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Winning!
Even more exciting is that new Yoplait pouches are the perfect snack size for your little one. It’s a win-win in our house, because Ayla thinks it’s a treat, but I know the new Yoplait yoghurt pouches have at least 30% less sugar than the average flavoured yoghurt (see www.yoplait.com.au/nuture-their-nature/ for details).
And as a mum I cherish those little win-win moments !
Happy Toddler, Happy Life!
